Arrival in Resia/Surroundings

First leisurely along Lake Resia, where you will find the best known camera motive of the Vinschau, the flooded spire of Gaun. The route runs past Lake San Valentino and along the largest alluvial fan of the Alps and leads up to the idyllic mountain village Planeil. Downhill through forest and later through flowering meadows to Burgusio, with view to the impressive monastery of Marienberg.

Walk along the Sonnensteig path, a newly created theme path with fantastic views of the snowy mountain peaks. High above the town Malles, with its many towers, onwards and over the Tartscher Bichl past ‚Ganglegg’, a historic archaeological site from the Bronze and Iron Age on to Sluderno, with the most impressive and best-preserved castles in South Tyrol.

From the foot of Sonnberg your walk starts and continues crossing through dense forests. Above Laas, well known for the white marble, you later reach the orchards of Vinschgau – apple trees as far as the eyes can see.

This stage takes you along sunny mountain slopes above the fertile Vinschgau Valley. Along the Latschander Waalweg you hike through the growing areas of the best South Tyrolean wines. Continue up to Messner's Juval Castle or take a leisurely stroll along the Vinschgau Wine Trail down into the valley to Naturns. Difficulty Level

Walking

You walk mainly on good walking paths, often on the so called ‘Waal paths’, ancient water systems as well as on paved sections. The paths are easy to walk, the route is undulating through lovely countryside, dotted with orchards and vineyards. Longer ascents occur on some of the days. We recommend a good basic fitness level for walking days of up to 6 hours. Shortcuts of daily sections are possible by train or coach.

Sustainably on the go

Our contribution to climate protection

  • Active vacations are among the most environmentally friendly and healthiest ways to travel. Traveling on foot means moving in a climate-conscious way while conserving resources.

  • Our carefully selected accommodations, like us, are committed to lived sustainability. They are deeply rooted in their regions, work with local suppliers, provide attractive employment opportunities for local residents, and thereby strengthen local value creation.

  • With the Eurohike On Tour app, we offer a digital version of our travel documents, allowing you to navigate confidently while on the road. By moving to digital formats, we help conserve valuable natural resources.

  • Eurohike has been certified as a sustainable tour operator with the internationally recognized Travelife certification. To achieve this, more than 261 requirements were carefully met.

  • Even though hiking vacations (and cycling vacations with Eurobike) are among the most climate-friendly forms of travel, they still generate CO₂ emissions. These are carefully measured using the “Carmacal” calculator. Through our commitment to selected climate protection projects, we aim to give something back to the environment.
