Mindfully One Step Further

Your sustainable home on Eurohike hiking tours

Even though all Eurohike hiking tours are designed with sustainability in mind, some carefully selected tours set a new standard. A large part of this is thanks to our dedicated partner accommodations—they play a key role in making these tours especially sustainable. On the following tours, you can be confident that the highest standards are carefully upheld at each stay, allowing you to travel even more responsibly.

We focus on four key criteria when classifying sustainable accommodations. On our most eco-conscious tours, we guarantee that you will stay in accommodations that conscientiously meet at least three out of these four quality standards.

Accommodations with Mindful Vision: Family-run, local, authentic

We focus on four key criteria when classifying sustainable accommodations. On our most eco-conscious tours, we guarantee that you will stay in accommodations that conscientiously meet at least three out of these four quality standards.

Family-run establishments

Local and regional foods

Family-Run Traditional Establishments

What makes family-run accommodations so special?

It’s the personal atmosphere, genuine warmth, and heartfelt hospitality that come from direct contact with the hosts. With passion, attention to detail, and a strong connection to the region, these stays offer a vacation experience that stands apart from large hotel chains. The hosts call the holiday region their home and are always happy to share personal insider tips and culinary recommendations. Many of these properties have been run by the same family for generations—a legacy reflected in the lovingly crafted ambiance, which tells the story of both the family and the character of the region.

All of our partner hotels are personally visited, tested, and carefully selected by us. This ensures that sustainability standards are not only met, but that guests can also enjoy a warm, authentic atmosphere and truly experience the character of the region.

Local Flavors on Your Plate

After a day of hiking, enjoying fresh, locally sourced foods lets you experience the region’s culinary diversity with all your senses. At the same time, it supports the local economy and local producers. On our most sustainable tours, this is standard practice. At the selected accommodations, you can be sure to savor delicious dishes made from local ingredients. Some hotel partners even cook exclusively with organic products, such as the Stillebach Biohotel in Tyrol.

Reducing Plastic and Waste

Hotels have many ways to cut down on plastic and other waste, conserving valuable resources in the process. Sustainable practices are noticeable from the very start of the day: many accommodations prepare yogurt, muesli, spreads, bread, or jam themselves, deliberately avoiding individually wrapped portions—or source these products directly from nearby farms.

In the rooms, you won’t find single-use packaging or plastic cups. Instead, refillable dispensers for toiletries like soap and shampoo are provided. By avoiding disposable items such as toothbrushes or shower caps, these properties significantly reduce plastic waste.

Sustainability is not a trend for us—it’s a responsibility. On all of our tours, we consistently implement measures to protect the environment, conserve resources, and safeguard the climate—because we believe that true relaxation is only possible in harmony with people and nature.

Commitment to Sustainability

We make sure that our partner accommodations prioritize sustainability just as much as we do. On our most eco-conscious tours, these properties actively implement standards to protect both the environment and the local region. On our carefully selected tours, partner accommodations already put concrete measures into practice, such as:

  • Homemade products like honey, juices, spreads, and bread, served in glass jars and baskets instead of individually wrapped portions.
  • Traditional preservation methods, such as canning or fermenting, to extend shelf life and reduce food waste.
  • Energy-independent solutions, including district heating, geothermal energy, or solar power, cutting reliance on fossil fuels and lowering CO₂ emissions.
  • Eco-friendly cleaning technologies, for example using steam cleaners to minimize the use of chemical cleaning agents.
  • Avoidance of single-use plastics, such as skipping disposable trash bags in rooms and using glass bottles instead of plastic.
  • Sourcing local products to reduce transportation distances and support regional farmers.
  • Optional measures that let guests skip daily room cleaning or the daily change of towels and bed linens, helping to conserve resources.

These and many other measures demonstrate that sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for our partners—it’s a way of life, felt by our guests and making a real difference for the environment.

Climate-Friendly Extras

We intentionally avoid private transfers to reduce emissions.
