Ragged cliffs and rural life
Explore Brittany's dramatic pink granite coast on this self-guided walking tour from Lannion to Tréguier. Discover the rugged cliffs, idyllic beaches, and charming harbors along the Sentier des Douaniers coastal path. Visit France's oldest bird sanctuary, the medieval town of Tréguier with its impressive cathedral, and the picturesque resort of Perros-Guirec. Daily walks average 17-24 km on coastal paths and country lanes with minimal elevation gain, suitable for those with good basic fitness.
It is said that in Brittany, the sea has formed a love affair with the land. Every day, the sea penetrates deep into the interior to the rhythm of the tides. 350 kilometres of coastline of the ‘Côtes d'Armor’ lie deeply indented in the north of Brittany. The Côtes d'Armor is home to countless seabirds, wild flowers and a rich and mysterious history. The hike leads from west to east, almost exclusively on old customs officers' paths from the pink granite coast, the “Côte de Granit Rose”, to the Goëlo coast. You mostly follow the coast, but there are also plenty of glimpses of rural life: artichoke fields by the sea, a lighthouse between a village and a cauliflower field, and numerous bays for swimming in between.
