Insider Tips and Product Knowledge

Many of our station team members are locals from their respective travel destinations. So don’t be surprised if you’re greeted with a warm “Buon giorno” at our Tuscany station, while over in Madeira, our Portuguese colleague Ricardo Gouvaia will be ready to welcome you. In other words, our staff come from the region and are true experts on your vacation spot. They’re always happy to share a few insider tips with you.

To make sure our travel specialists have all the specific details about your chosen hiking tour, they receive thorough training from our product management team. There are plenty of questions to cover: What’s important to know about the new 2025 tours in each destination? What do the daily stages of the walking routes look like in the region? Are there any special features along the route? How are our travel documents structured? And how does the Eurohike On Tour app work?

Informational Briefing at the Start of Every Active Tour

At the start of your tour, all travel guests are welcomed by our on-site tour representative and provided with a detailed briefing to prepare you for your upcoming hiking vacation. You’ll receive your travel documents package, which has already been delivered to your hotel in advance, along with a thorough explanation of each item—from the route book and hotel list to train tickets and other included activities on your tour. As part of the Training Days, our travel specialists are carefully trained to conduct these info sessions, ensuring you have a knowledgeable local contact on-site who is happy to assist you with any questions.

Reliable Luggage Transfer

One of the standout services on every Eurohike hiking tour is the luggage transfer for our guests. While it may seem simple at first glance, it’s actually a logistical feat—because it’s not just your luggage, but that of many other Eurohike travelers on different tours throughout the region, that needs to get from A to B. We take great care to ensure that after a fulfilling day of active travel, your luggage is already waiting for you at your next accommodation. That’s why luggage transfer is a key focus during our Eurohike Training Days.

Ready for Anything

For many active travelers, the best part of hiking is being out in the open air. Only rarely does nature or the weather surprise us with unexpected events that might make parts of a route temporarily inaccessible. Occasionally, paths are also closed for maintenance or upgrades. If any disruptions do occur during your tour, your on-site tour representative will know exactly what to do. And our team at headquarters in the Salzburg Lake District is immediately informed by our local colleagues. That way, our travel specialists can provide you with reliable updates by phone or email—ensuring a smooth and safe hiking experience from start to finish.

Sustainable Travel

We love exploring the outdoors along the most beautiful hiking routes and offering our guests unforgettable journeys through stunning, pristine landscapes. That’s why we continually ask ourselves: How can we protect nature? What can we do to contribute to a more sustainable planet? To help answer these questions, we provide our station staff with helpful information and tips for eco-friendly and sustainable travel—so they can pass them along to our guests. Many of our routes lead through unspoiled nature and important habitats for wildlife. If every traveler takes these suggestions to heart, just as we do, we can work together to ensure that nature lovers continue to enjoy a clean and thriving environment on our tours.

Getting to Know Each Other in Person

The Eurohike Training Days offer a fantastic chance to meet and connect with our colleagues from stations all over Europe. Many of our station staff have been part of the Eurohike team for years, making the reunion at our headquarters in Obertrum at the season’s start a truly special occasion. The Training Days conclude with a relaxed and enjoyable group dinner—always a highlight of the event.
