Arrival in Mahón
Mahon is the starting point for the exploration of this beautiful island. Shaped by the British reign in the 17th century and the large natural harbour this town offers a very unique flair, which you get to discover whilst on a stroll through the colourful alleyways.
Today you discover the S’Albufera des Grau nature reserve, located in the heart of the biosphere reserve. During this hiking tour you cross wetlands, pasturages and cultivated areas, dunes and wonderful beaches, such as Tortuga- or Presili beach. After a while you reach Cape Favàritx with its imposing lighthouse built on black slate rocks. If you like you can continue to the harbour of Addaia via the saline de Mongofre. Transfer back to Mahon.
Mahón – Ciutadella
You hike across one of the best preserved coastal areas in the North of Menorca, unique with its ample biological diversity as well as numerous bird species. Onwards you proceed to the beaches of Cavalleria and Binimel-lá. Just a short distance from the Camí de Cavalls you can visit the antique harbour of Sanitja. End today’s hiking tour with a visit to the lighthouse located on top of spectacular cliffs at the Cape de Cavalleria and enjoy a swim in the sea at Pregonda beach, one of the most stunning beach in the North of the island.
From Cala Pilar you continue through varied surroundings featuring dense forests and scrubland. The highlights are the ‚Macar d’Alfurì‘ with its rounded off rocks, the beaches of La Vall and Algaiarens, as well as the ‚talayotic‘ necropolis and the Cala Morell caves. It is optional for you to walk all the way to the lighthouse of Punta Nati.
Crossing of the spectacualr section of the Camí de Cavalls in the South of the island. You pass the beaches of Son Saura, Cala Turqueta and Macarella with its crystal clear turquoise water. A little bit further we recommend you visit the cave of Pardal, an antique scoop wheel and a hidden bunker from the Second World War.
Ciutadella – Mahón
Discover the renowned gorges of the island (Algendar, Trebaluger and Albranca), known as the ‚Path of the Gorges‘. From the Cala Galdana you walk to Cala Mitjana beach and then head inland across green wooded areas. Following the Camí de Cavalls you reach the fabulous beach of Binigaus, right at the spot where the rocks reveal the coastal path. Following the coast you reach the village of Santo Tomás. Transfer from Santo Tomás back to Mahón.
You start your hiking tour from the picturesque Son Bou beach. Begin with a visit to the paleo-Christian basilica. You then proceed through the gorge and bay of Llucalari inland, whilst crossing the gorge of Cala en Porter. At the necropolis of Calescoves you will see more than 100 protohistoric caves of Calescoves, a region with huge archaeological value.
