Mecklenburg’s Fischland

Mundane Sea Resorts & Tranquil Fisher Villages.

Famous resorts on the Baltic Sea with more than 100 years of tradition are e.g. Dierhagen, Prerow, Wustrow and artist’s refuge Ahrenshoop are part of your experience when crossing the peninsula Fischland, Darß and Zingst. Tranquil fisher ports and little villages are sprinkled in between, characteristic for this countryside. A great part has been protected under National Park Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft and especially the large forest of Darß, the dune-pine forests, the steep coast and beaches are well worth mentioning. The country between Darß and the island Usedom was shaped by the last ice age. The vastness and tranquillity of Vorpommern impresses everyone. Explore the soft, slightly undulating forms and unspoilt nature hardly to be found anywhere else in Germany.

The amber-town Ribnitz-Damgarten is located between the hanseatic cities Rostock and Stralsund, on the south bank of a chain of coastal lagoons connected with the Baltic Sea.

Before you start you should visit the amber-museum in the ancient St. Catherine museum. In Klockenhagen we recommend visiting the open air museum before you reach the lovely Fischland beaches at sea bath Dierhagen.
