8 Days / 7 Nights
Walking
The port of Hvar

Would you like a holiday on idyllic islands on the Adriatic coast? The island paradise of Dalmatia in Croatia not only has the turquoise-blue Mediterranean to offer, but also charming fishing villages. You walk along the coasts and peaks of Brač, Mljet, Korčula and Hvar, always accompanied by the salty breeze of the sea and the scent of cypresses.

The trip starts in Split. From here you take the ferry to the enchanting island of Brač with its dreamy fishing villages and picturesque coast – and from island to island. You hike along pristine beaches and stroll past spectacular viewpoints. In between, the sea in the idyllic bays provides a welcome cool-down.

Tip for pleasure seekers: On day five, a real trip for the senses awaits in Hvar and continues to Korčula. Endless vineyards and unique hiking trails create a holiday atmosphere. A good glass of wine in hand and the glittering sea in front of you: what more could your heart desire?

  • Split: The second largest city in Croatia is not only the starting point for this eight-day hike, but has also been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
  • Sveti Ilija: From the highest mountain on the Croatian Pelješac peninsula you have a fabulous view of the coast of South Dalmatia.
  • Lovely Dubrovnik: Be sure to plan a walk through the old town! Because between the city walls from the 16th century, there is one sight after another.

Off to the Croatian coast – with the sun as your loyal companion. On the eight-day hiking trip, you will be travelling an average of three to six hours a day. From Split to Bol and Milna and to the end point in Dubrovnik you travel over partly rocky and stony terrain.

Would you like to get to know the Croatian coast better? The Eurohike team will be happy to assist you with your booking!

Arrival in Split

You take the ferry from Split over to the island Brač, the largest island of the region of Dalmatia. Your hiking tour starts at the harbour and leads uphill onto Mount Vidova Gora, with an altitude of 778 m it is the highest mountain of the Adriatic islands. From the summit you enjoy a fantastic view onto the Adriatic Sea and the renowned Zlatni Rat beach.

Today you visit the island of Hvar, known as the sunniest spot in Europe. The picturesque loop tour from Hvar to Milna spoils you with countless stunning views as well as fragrant pine forests, lavender fields, vineyards, olive groves and orchards en route. You walk past idyllic bays and deserted beaches arriving again and again at spectacular viewpoints.

During today’s tour you explore the heart of Hvar. Starting from the village of Brusje you hike along lovely trails to the deserted village of Malo Grablje, where you get to marvel at the beauty of traditional architecture and the way of life from days long gone by at close range. At Dubovica beach, which is one of the most beautiful beaches along the entire Adriatic Sea, you reach the sea again and have really earned a dive into the turquoise water.

In the morning ferry ride initially from Hvar to Korčula and from there onwards to the mainland, to Pelješac peninsula, renowned for endless vineyards, unspoilt pebble beaches and hiking paths unique for its scenery. You walk along these paths up to the highest point of the peninsula, Mount Sveti Ilija with an altitude of 981 m.

Again you take a ferry ride over to Mljet national park, situated on the same-named island. Mljet is one of eight Croatian national parks and is often called ‚the green island‘ due to its lush vegetation – a genuine Dalmatian gem. During today’s hiking tour along the Northwest-path the crystal clear, blue sea, countless bays, beaches and cliff coasts, as well as two beautiful salt lakes, Lake Malo and Veliko Jezero (‚small and big lake‘) await.

One more time you take the ferry, this time to Dubrovnik. Enjoy your final day by taking a good long stroll through the historic centre and discover the numerous sights and attractions and unique beauty, for instance the historic city wall dating back to the 16th century or the pedestrian zone cobbled with light-coloured limestone.
