Eurofun Winter Sports Day 2022

At the beginning of March it was time again and our annual Eurofun winter sports day was just around the corner. Now that we had to do without our trip for two years due to Corona, the anticipation was already very high.

Since it needed to be a ‚winter sports day‘ and not just a day of skiing, we took off in two fully occupied buses to Strobl, destination „Postalm“, situated in the beautiful Salzkammergut region, where a wide variety of winter sport activities are on offer. Whether it is skiing, hiking, tobogganing or embarking on a ski tour, all of our sporty employees really get their money’s worth and can choose according to their taste. We also wanted to take the opportunity to visit the Postalm-alp in winter. In summer, it is well known to us and our guests as a cozy place to stay overnight in a hut during our alpine hiking tour in the Salzkammergut region.

Fantastic weather for our winter sports day

On Sunday the Eurofun team sets off in fantastic weather and sunshine. In the luggage there are not only skis, warm winter clothing and snow boots, but also a lot of cheerfulness and anticipation for the upcoming exciting day in the snow. Right at the beginning the group splits into two camps: skiers and snow hikers. While some ski down the slopes, others hike up the mountain up to the alp. Sport in the morning and fun in the hut at noon. This program promises a lot of fun in any case.

"Up onto the mountain and down again with skis." This après-ski song is today’s motto for our motivated skiers. Fantastic weather- and optimal slope conditions are the basis for a successful day of skiing on the Postalm-alp. Our winter hikers also benefit from these conditions. Strengthened by ‚mulled wine for breakfast‘ they walk up along the toboggan run in the direction of the hut. En route they walk through a winter wonderland featuring stupendous panoramic views. There is also plenty of fun and hence a small igloo is created along the way in no time at all. 😉

Lunch and conclusion in the Huberhütte-hut

After a few hours of fun on the slopes and with plenty of appetite, we all meet again for lunch at the Huberhütte-hut. The owner of the hut Hans Göllner not only provides us with a very tasty roast pork and homemade ‚Kaiserschmarren‘, but also with numerous funny jokes. A culinary and entertaining treat. The owner of the hut is no stranger to us, as our guests also spend the night in the Huberhütte when hiking in the alpine pastures.

Conclusion

A long and exciting day comes to an end. With great impressions and excellent atmosphere, we make our way home again but only after a shot of schnapps aiding digestion. Whether skiing or hiking, the winter sports day was more than a success. That is why the entire team is already looking forward to the next winter sports day in 2023.

Normally, we at Eurohike miss very few opportunities for a cosy get-together. Unfortunately, our company outing in 2020 had to be cancelled due to corona. So this year we were definitely looking forward to a short holiday together. And since we had to wait so long for it, it was extended by a second night. A wonderful cycle tour, an impressive hike, fun evenings with intense conversations and of course lots of delicious food rounded off the trip perfectly. Eurofun Winter Sports Day 2019
In mid-March it was time again – the wait was over! After our company outing at the end of October, the Eurofun team were enthusiastic about heading off on our traditional winter sports day. For this year, we planned a ‘winter sports day’, rather than a day of skiing, to motivate as many team members as possible to join in – with success! The group included 15 athletic employees this year, so two, almost fully occupied Eurofun busses hit the road to Styria and the beautiful ski area Planai Schlaming.
