Hiker enjoys the world heritage view of Lake Hallstatt with mountain panorama in the background

The oldest salt mine in the world, an Imperial City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the Salzkammergut is a region that amazes and is yet so relaxed and dreamy that you have a good feeling the whole time. Hike with us along magical lakes, delightful places, imposing mountain ranges and impressive nature.

Swimming in the Wolfgangsee or taking a ride on Austria's oldest cogwheel train to the Schafberg – on your arrival day you will be spoiled for choice and that’s a good thing! The first hike takes you over the Falkensteinwand (the view!) to charming St. Gilgen and back again by boat. On day 3 you hike comfortably over the Schwarzensee and the Wirerschlucht to the Imperial City of Bad Ischl. A day of rest awaits you here, where you can, for example, bathe in the thermal baths and taste the numerous culinary delicacies of the region.

During the second half of the tour with Eurohike, you will hike along the oldest salt path in the world. The hike to the Hohe Wand is spectacular, and the planned boat trips on Lake Hallstatt and the Wolfgangsee are relaxing. The Nussensee and Blinklingmoos are places where nature seems almost untouched and the soul can set itself free.

  • World-famous lakeside towns of St. Wolfgang & Hallstatt: These two unforgettable towns in the region offer picture postcard landscapes. If you stroll through the alleys to the Weißen Rössel and the likes, you know why this traditional place was allowed to serve as a famous film set. Hallstatt is no less impressive with its special location between mountains and lake and the delightful baroque architecture.
  • The Imperial City of Bad Ischl: The atmosphere in Bad Ischl still feels imperial today. From the villa to the spacious spa gardens to the thermal baths, this place is a real gem.
  • World Cultural Heritage Sites Hallstatt-Dachstein: Beauty, industry and science characterise this region, which has lived from salt mining for almost 3,000 years and which made it an international trading centre in the past. As early as the 19th century, visitors enjoyed this unique region, a fascination which has remained till this day.
  • Hiking in a fascinating mountain landscape: One can say that the Salzkammergut is one of the most beautiful regions in the world. Hiking in this region is pure enjoyment – take in the beautiful views at every turn!

This tour is a leisurely active holiday with enough time to enjoy the sights and attractions of the region. The easy stages are supplemented by bus, train and boat trips.

On our ‘Hiking Tours with Charm’ you can enjoy the full service of our individual active holidays while staying in very special accommodation with that extra something in the best location.
