After your arrival, take a stroll through the town with its spa park, visit the JOSKA glass paradise with the glassworks or experience a guided tour in the historic Silberberg visitor mine. Ore was mined here as early as the 12th century.

Uphill, the trail leads you over the impressive Rißloch Falls to the Chamer Hütte. Here, in addition to a stop for refreshments, you can also make a detour to the Kleiner Arber. Continue on to the king of the Bavarian Forest - the Großer Arber at 1,456 meters. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view. Once you have reached the stage destination, you have the option of taking the Arber Bergbahn cable car descent (not included) and from there back by public transport to Bodenmais.

In the morning by bus back to the Great Arbersee, from where you hike leisurely down into the valley. Along the river Großer Regen you reach the climatic health resort Bayerisch Eisenstein, where you can visit the local railway museum and the nature park worlds at the border station. After a refreshment in the Schwellhäusl you hike on to Zwieslerwaldhaus.

Today you climb the Großer Falkenstein and pass the Ruckowitzschachten (former forest pastures for young cattle). From here you have a fantastic view of the Großer Arber. At the summit of the Großer Falkenstein it is recommended to take a break to enjoy the breathtaking view. Below the Scheuereckberg, the enchanting Jährlingsschachten awaits you.

In addition to the original high moor Zwieselter Filz you will experience other high pastures. You follow the Goldsteig trail to the Waldschmidthaus below the summit of the Großer Rachel. There, you'll leave the trail and take the bus from Gfäll to your accommodation in Spiegelau.

Short bus ride to Gfäll and then steadily uphill to the summit of the Great Rachel (1,453 m). A short detour to the picturesque Rachelsee Chapel with a view of the Rachelsee, before the hiking trail leads you further over the Felsenkanzel and through mixed mountain forests to the Teufelsloch. There you leave the Goldsteig and hike down to Waldhäuser.

The long ascent to the Lusen (1,373 m) via the stony sky ladder is rewarded with an impressive view over the sea of blocks with its massive granite boulders. You hike down to Mauth in a relaxed manner. The forest meadow at the Tummelplatz below the mountain Großalmeyerschloß, as well as the Steinbachklause, are suitable for a leisurely rest and as a picturesque end to your journey.

The route continues to the ‘King of the Bavarian Forest’ – the Great Arber, at 1,456 m. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic views before descending to the Great Arber Lake, or cut the tour short and take the Arber Bergbahn cable car down to the valley station in comfort (not included). You can then take the bus from the Great Arber Lake back to Bodenmais.

In the morning, you’ll first take the bus back to the Great Arber Lake, from where you’ll enjoy a leisurely hike down into the valley. Following the course of the Great Regen River, you’ll reach the climatic health resort of Bayerisch Eisenstein, where you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Localbahn Museum and the Nature Park Worlds at the border railway station. After a break at the Schwellhäusl, continue hiking to Zwieslerwaldhaus.

Today, you’ll ascend the Great Falkenstein, passing the historic Ruckowitzschachten (former upland forest pasture) along the way. Once you reach the summit of the Great Falkenstein, take plenty of time to enjoy the breathtaking views. The trail then leads down to the Falkenstein National Park Center in Ludwigsthal. Finally, take the Bavarian Forest Railway (free of charge) to the ‘Glass Town’ of Zwiesel, where you can Marvel at the spa gardens and the impressive crystal glass pyramid.

First, by a short transfer to the starting point of today’s stage. The Goldsteig Trail leads you then uphill. In addition to the pristine Zwieselter Filz raised bog, you’ll also come across other clearings. Follow the hiking trail to the Waldschmidthaus below the summit of the Great Rachel. There, you’ll leave the route and continue by bus from Gfäll to your overnight accommodation in Spiegelau.

Take the bus back to Gfäll, then head steadily uphill to the summit of the Great Rachel (1,453 m), the second-highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest. A short detour to the picturesque Rachelsee Chapel, with its view over Lake Rachel, is highly recommended before your hike takes you past the Kanzel and through mixed mountain forests along varied trails to the Devil's Hole. There, you leave the Goldsteig Trail and hike down past the Martinsklause to Waldhäuser.

The long ascent to the Lusen (1,373 m) via the rocky ‘Himmelsleiter’ is rewarded with a spectacular view over the ‘Blockmeer’ with its massive granite boulders. The rest of the route continues gently downhill to Mauth. The forest meadow at the Tummelplatz and the Steinbachklause are ideal spots for a relaxing break to round out your week’s hiking through the Bavarian Forest.
