Itinerary at a glance

The Steinernes Meer, the Leoganger and Loferer Steinberge, the Kitzbühel Alps, and the Pinzgau High Trail: this tour brings together the region’s most famous mountain ranges. High-altitude trails, rustic alpine huts, and sweeping views of the three-thousand-metre peaks of the Hohe Tauern characterise this week of hiking, whilst charming hotels ensure relaxing evenings.

Take a walk to Lake Zell, where you can swim in the clear, cool water and then stroll through the lively pedestrian area in Zell am See.

You’ll start with a magnificent summit hike via the Kammereggalm to the Schwalbenwand, the famous twin peak of the Pinzgau Grass Mountains. An impressive hiking tour with unforgettable views of the surrounding mountain ranges, each with its own unique shape, awaits you. Passing through the ‘Hofer Plattl’ forest, you’ll reach the Hinterreit refreshment stop and descend past the Peace Chapel to Maria Alm, an idyllic farming and pilgrimage village.

Following in the footsteps of pilgrims, you’ll hike across meadows and through a breathtaking high moorland area toward the rocky peaks of the ‘Stone Sea’. Follow scenic high-altitude trails up to the Steinalm, a sunny alpine pasture with a hut where you can stop for a break. The descent winds its way down a path to the impressive hermitage. Passing Lichtenberg Castle, you’ll reach the historic town of Saalfelden.

From the Vorderkaserklamm Gorge in Weißbach, you’ll hike along rushing streams on a varied trail to the beautifully situated Hochkaser mountain pasture, a secluded mountain pass that leads you to the Tyrolean side, nestled between the steep, towering peaks of the Leoganger and Loferer Steinberge. Passing the Niederkaseralm and through the Grieseltal, your route follows a wild and romantic riverbed into the beautiful Pillerseetal Valley, set against the backdrop of the Loferer Steinberge.

Hike along beautiful forest trails and across lush farm meadows up to the alpine pastures and around the imposing Spielberg massif to the Lindlingalm. After a rustic stop for refreshments and fortified by Pinzgau specialities, the route continues via the Spielbergtörl to the Spielberghaus, before you make your way leisurely down to Saalbach along a scenic forest trail. Or why not climb one of the many inviting peaks?

Enjoy a relaxing day in the sports region, take advantage of one of the benefits offered by your Joker Card, or go on a leisurely loop hike at the head of the valley. The high-altitude trail takes you past the Forsthofalm to the Saalalm and on to the Lindlingalm, where a suspension bridge leads to the Baumzipfelweg. Take a break with a glass of buttermilk in an alpine hut and enjoy the panoramic view of the Glemm Valley.

At the finale of your hiking week, one of the most beautiful high-altitude trails in the Alps awaits you! At an altitude of just under 2,000 metres, with stunning views of the surrounding peaks, the trail leads you towards the Schmittenhöhe. There, you'll once again enjoy the fascinating panoramic view of more than 30 three-thousand-metre peaks. You’ll then glide down to Zell am See by cable car.

Sustainably on the go

Our contribution to climate protection

  • Active vacations are among the most environmentally friendly and healthiest ways to travel. Traveling on foot means moving in a climate-conscious way while conserving resources.

  • Our carefully selected accommodations, like us, are committed to lived sustainability. They are deeply rooted in their regions, work with local suppliers, provide attractive employment opportunities for local residents, and thereby strengthen local value creation.

  • With the Eurohike On Tour app, we offer a digital version of our travel documents, allowing you to navigate confidently while on the road. By moving to digital formats, we help conserve valuable natural resources.

  • Eurohike has been certified as a sustainable tour operator with the internationally recognized Travelife certification. To achieve this, more than 261 requirements were carefully met.

  • Even though hiking vacations (and cycling vacations with Eurobike) are among the most climate-friendly forms of travel, they still generate CO₂ emissions. These are carefully measured using the “Carmacal” calculator. Through our commitment to selected climate protection projects, we aim to give something back to the environment.
