Alpe-Adria-Trail

The Alpe-Adria Trail thrills hikers across Europe with its contrasts and highlights. Stretching 750 kilometers (about 466 miles) across borders, this long-distance trail offers an unforgettable experience. On the Eurohike hiking tour along the Alpe-Adria Trail, we’ve handpicked some of the most memorable stages for you. Your journey begins in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, where you hike across the Vršič Pass to the source of the Soča River, surrounded by the impressive mountains of the Triglav range, and follow the turquoise river through a picturesque valley.

The main stage from Trenta to Bovec takes you across several suspension bridges with breathtaking views of the sparkling Soča River. Passing the mighty Boka and Virje waterfalls and winding through dense forests, the trail leads into the charming town of Kobarid. Along the way, numerous swimming spots invite you to cool off in the refreshing waters. Through blooming alpine meadows and the high pastures of Kuhinja, you’ll eventually reach the elongated Kolovrat ridge at the Italian border. Refuel at Rifugio Solarie before continuing to Cividale, where you’ll conclude your journey by immersing yourself in the Mediterranean lifestyle.

Alpine crossing: From Garmisch to Sterzing

Crossing the Alps under your own power is a dream shared by countless hiking enthusiasts across Europe. If this is a dream you share, we’re excited to introduce our new version of the Alpine Crossing from Garmisch to Sterzing. The journey begins through the breathtaking Partnach Gorge and continues over blooming alpine meadows to Mittenwald. Here, a special highlight awaits: a hike through Karwendel National Park along spectacular high trails, offering sweeping views of the Inn Valley.

From there, you’ll traverse expansive alpine meadows up to the 2,000-meter-high (6,562 ft) Sandjöchl, crossing the main Alpine ridge and the border into Italy. The final section of the Dolomite Trail leads up to Rosskopf, where unforgettable views of the Dolomites await, before you descend into the medieval old town of Sterzing and reflect on a week filled with diverse and memorable hiking experiences.

Malerweg Trail

Experience one of the most captivating landscapes of Saxon Switzerland along the impressive Malerweg (Painter’s Path). As the name suggests, countless artists found inspiration for their works in this region. Expansive views of the Elbe River, striking sandstone formations, and deep gorges turn every stage of this popular long-distance trail into a unique nature experience.

Your tour begins in Pirna and leads you through the idyllic Liebethaler Grund and the rock gate to the famous Bastei Bridge. A loop hike in the spa town of Rathen takes you to the Rauenstein, a striking plateau, as well as the imposing Lilienstein, which rewards you with breathtaking views of the Elbe River bend. The next day, you’ll discover the Hockstein summit and the quiet Polenz Valley before heading into the core zone of the national park. From the spa towns of Bad Schandau and Gohrisch, scenic loop hikes await—taking you to the Lichtenhainer Waterfall, the fascinating Kuhstall cave, and up onto a high plateau, from where you’ll hike through charming villages and visit baroque churches.

Your hiking week is rounded off with a nostalgic tram ride through the Kirnitzsch Valley and a ferry crossing on the Elbe. After days full of experiences, you return to Pirna with unforgettable impressions.

Lechweg for Families

Fairy-tale castles, spectacular suspension bridges, and the thundering Lech Falls thrill both adults and young explorers alike. Along the Lechweg, a memorable adventure for the whole family awaits. Up close, you’ll discover one of Europe’s last wild river landscapes on varied daily stages, framed by the breathtaking scenery of Vorarlberg and Tyrol. Your journey begins at the sparkling Lake Formarin and winds past grazing cows across lush alpine meadows to Steeg.

Following the Lech, you’ll hike up to the Gföllwiesen and cross one of Europe’s longest and most impressive suspension bridges—a true highlight for all ages! The excitement continues high above on a panoramic cable car ride to Sonnalm, where you can breathe in fresh mountain air and savor traditional local specialties. Finally, you’ll reach your final stage in Füssen, where a visit to the fairy-tale Neuschwanstein Castle perfectly crowns your active family adventure.

Merano High Mountain Trail

The magnificent Texel Group invites you to a hiking experience like no other! Even the spa town of Merano is a highlight in itself, but that’s just the beginning. The Merano High Mountain Trail winds high above the valley, offering breathtaking panoramas through the stunning mountain landscapes of South Tyrol. Truly dreamlike views of the Merano basin, the Vinschgau, and the Passeier Valley make this journey an unforgettable experience.

Numerous highlights await you on the Merano High Mountain Trail hiking tour. One of the most memorable stages takes you to the Eisjöchl and the Stettiner Hut at nearly 2,900 meters (about 9,514 feet), where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Ötztal Alps. You’ll journey through the unspoiled Schnals Valley, framed by towering three-thousand-meter peaks, winding through shady forests and lush meadows to Juval Castle, and then follow the River Etsch at a relaxed pace to Naturns. On the way to Partschins, you’ll pass traditional mountain farms before descending into the wild and dramatic Thousand Steps Gorge. The Vinschgau section of the trail stretches from the unspoiled Schnals Valley to the mountain village of Pfelders, featuring dramatic rock paths, rustic alpine farms, endless vistas, and the spectacular Thousand Steps Gorge.

The trails pass through idyllic high pastures, where cozy huts along the way invite you to pause and savor traditional South Tyrolean specialties. A standout experience is the loop hike through the Ötztal high mountains, where towering snow-capped three-thousand-meter peaks leave a lasting impression long after your journey.

Madeira Wild North Coast

From Madeira’s easternmost point, embark on a varied journey along the island’s wild north coast, over its highest peak, and toward the dramatic cliffs of the west. Your adventure begins at the eastern peninsula of São Lourenço. Along the Levada do Caniçal, you’ll cross the Boca do Risco pass to Porto da Cruz, and the following day, ascend Pico Ruivo, Madeira’s highest peak.

Along the way, you’ll pass the traditional inland village of Santana, famous for its charming “Casinhas de Santana,” which offer perfect photo opportunities. Crossing sun-drenched high plateaus and wandering through endless laurel forests, you’ll reach Porto Moniz on Madeira’s western coast. From the coastal paths, enjoy sweeping views down to the Atlantic waves, and from the island’s highest peak, take in panoramic vistas in every direction. Madeira East Coast

Experience the island’s most beautiful natural and coastal landscapes in a single journey. On this moderate walking tour of the Atlantic Portuguese island, both food lovers and nature enthusiasts will be delighted.
