During your holiday along the long-distance hiking path ‚Gotaleden‘ you discover Western Sweden in all its facets: starting from the enchanting harbour town Göteborg you walk across blooming fields and green meadows through unspoilt nature and stunning nature reserves. En route through expansive scenery and gnarly forests you get to know the fauna of Northern Europe at close range, again and again historic palaces and parks entice you to an extensive visit. Sample typical Swedish specialities in the little cafés and restaurants along the route, in the ancient villages you immerse yourself deeply into the fascinating history of the country.

Your initial tour leads you to the Outdoor-recreation centre Skatås. After only a few kilometres you reach the Delsjön nature reserve, the largest one of its kind located in the surroundings of Göteborg. After that you pass the Knipeflåg-mountains, a giant plateau, from where the ascent of Mount Getryggen awaits. Enjoy the view onto Göteborg from high up before you continue to the Kåsjön-lakes. Here we recommend a break and a refreshing swim, before you reach Jonsered, a little village with ample history.
Not far from your hotel you find Jönsered-Gardens. Alongside the amazing botanical gardens, there is also a characteristic Swedish café. You ascend on lovely paths to Mount Goråsbergen, the ascent features a few steep sections, but you get rewarded with marvellous views across lake Aspen. After that you descend to Lerum, where the café Aspenäs is worth a visit.
Always following the river Säveån to the nature reserve with the same name. Enjoy the beautiful route, along the way bird song, salmon in the river and lovely picnic spots await. We also recommend a visit to the sand mill Hillefors, the only mill powered by water worldwide. Again and again, you have the opportunity to observe wild animals such as ducks, fawns or kingfisher during your hiking tour towards Nääs. Please also visit the palace in Nääs, before your route leads you into the little village of Tollered.
For the finale of your holiday the program features once more diverse scenery with opportunies for refreshing swims. Along the shores of Mjörns into the Nolhagaviken nature reserve featuring a bountiful bird population. A little later you walk past Nolhaga palace, where you get to visit interesting art exhibitions and the English garden. Shortly after the castle you finally reach Alingsås, the final destination of your holiday, which will impress you with beautiful wooden houses and offering many traditional cafés.

You always walk on nice hiking- and forest paths across meadows and through nature reserves, accompanied by marvellous views onto countless lakes. A good basic fitness level is sufficient for the daily tours with walking times of up to 7 hours with occasional little ascents.
