Do you have questions about this tour?

Italy is always worth a trip and the northernmost region of the country offers so many highlights and advantages for leisure hikers that you can hardly ignore the “South Tyrolean Wine and Alpine Pasture Trail” when planning your holiday. This hiking tour with Eurohike is particularly suitable for a short hiking holiday, as it takes you from Merano to Bolzano over four days. Forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse yourself in dreamy landscapes, excellent cuisine and the Mediterranean flair of the two most popular cities in South Tyrol.

The tour starts in beautiful Merano, which is often referred to as the garden city. It is worth visiting the botanical gardens at Trauttmansdorff Castle, where around 5,800 plant species are waiting to be explored. The icing on the cake is the magnificent castle and the picturesque views of the surrounding mountains.

Speaking of mountain worlds - day 2 takes you 19 km through Lana and Tesimo to Nalles. Look forward to blooming apple orchards, quiet forests and historic castles. The second hiking stage of this short break impresses with excellent views and wines. When you arrive in Bolzano, you should enjoy the Mediterranean delicacies of antipasti, pizza, dolce & cappuccino and stock up on a drop or two of regional wine to take home.

  • The spa and thermal town of Merano: Tradition and Mediterranean ease - that is what distinguishes this special city. The magnificent buildings and spacious parks date from the time when the European nobility loved to stay here.
  • South Tyrolean Wine Route: Hike towards the sun on the “Strada del Vino”. But don't forget to stop off, taste the award-winning wines and get to know the warm hospitality of South Tyrolean winegrowers.
  • Idyllic arbour lanes in Bolzano: An espresso or aperitivo in the lively cafés or shopping in the chic boutiques - the characteristic arbour lanes are not only full of Italian atmosphere, they are also a special attraction of the city.
  • Romantic alpine hikes: Lush alpine meadows with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains - nature-based hiking in South Tyrol is a tradition. Stop in the rustic huts, where you can try the regional specialties.
  • Fascinating mountain views of the Catinaccio: You would probably not recognise the name of this mountain range in the Dolomites. The characteristic formation is eye-catching! By the way: Those who appreciate blooming beauties can find what they are looking for in “Rosendorf” Nalles.

A special highlight of the tour is the characteristic Waalwege, these are narrow hiking trails along old irrigation canals. The leisurely tours leave you enough time to fully enjoy the beauties of the region.

Sustainably on the go

Our contribution to climate protection

  • Active vacations are among the most environmentally friendly and healthiest ways to travel. Traveling on foot means moving in a climate-conscious way while conserving resources.

  • Our carefully selected accommodations, like us, are committed to lived sustainability. They are deeply rooted in their regions, work with local suppliers, provide attractive employment opportunities for local residents, and thereby strengthen local value creation.

  • With the Eurohike On Tour app, we offer a digital version of our travel documents, allowing you to navigate confidently while on the road. By moving to digital formats, we help conserve valuable natural resources.

  • Eurohike has been certified as a sustainable tour operator with the internationally recognized Travelife certification. To achieve this, more than 261 requirements were carefully met.

  • Even though hiking vacations (and cycling vacations with Eurobike) are among the most climate-friendly forms of travel, they still generate CO₂ emissions. These are carefully measured using the “Carmacal” calculator. Through our commitment to selected climate protection projects, we aim to give something back to the environment.
