Arrival in Villach
You start in the lively city center of Villach and find yourself in the middle of nature in no time. By train to Villach Warmbad. The suburb was already known to the ancient Romans, because of an important trade route that led through here. You walk along the old Roman road and the river Gail through the nature reserve Schütt. The impressive Dobratsch massiv is watching over you.
Transfer to the starting point of today's hike on the Feistritzer Untere Alm. Today your tour leads across the border to Italy, mostly through untouched natural landscape with beautiful views of the Dobratsch and the idyllic Gailtal valley. This mountain range is characterized by the so-called Karnische Kamm of beautiful alpine landscapes. On the descent you will soon see the church of Camporosso, today's stage destination.
Loop tour Monte Lussari
Hike to the famous Monte Lussari, which has always been the destination of many pilgrimages by Italian, Slavic and German believers. The unique location at the summit with the pubs and small shops shows the attraction the Marian pilgrimage church and the place exercises on pilgrims and hikers alike. The experience is rounded off with a breathtaking view of the entire mountain range of the Julian Alps.
After a short transfer you will hike at the foot of the mighty Mangart Group to the White Lakes (Laghi di Fusine), small and fascinating lakes formed by glaciers embedded in a dense spruce forest at the foot of the mountain Mangart. Depending on the season, enjoy the fascinating reflection of the surrounding mountains. Through wide plateaus, wet meadows, peat bogs and pine forests, you walk over the Italian / Slovenian border to the famous ski resort Kranjska Gora.
Today you are free to explore the surroundings of Kranjska Gora - also called the Kitzbühel of Slovenia – or to enjoy a rest day. There are plenty of opportunities for smaller and larger hiking tours around this chic place. It is the gateway to the famous Triglav National Park, around Slovenia's highest mountain.
Kranjska Gora – Villach
In the morning in a short drive to Ratece. You leave Slovenia today and return to Austria. From the wide high valley of Kranjska Gora the route leads up to the Jepza saddle, which marks the border between the two states. The descent then takes you in the area of the impressive Mittagskogel directly to the turquoise-blue Lake Faaker See and Villach. You will remember this wonderful view of the Mittagskogel for a long time.
Departure or extension
The hike runs along well marked mountain and hiking trails. The tour is suitable for anyone with a good basic condition. Only the last stage requires a bit more stamina.

- Train journey to Villach.
- Parking: limited number of hotel car park, resp. public parking near the hotel. Public parking garage, approx. EUR 35 per week, no reservation possible in.
