Hiker Vršič Pass

Mindful Travel

Conscious Active Travel

May we introduce our stars of sustainable travel? With foresight and a strong focus on regional authenticity and environmental protection, the tours in our new Mindful Travel category set a new benchmark for sustainability.

But what does “Mindful Travel” actually mean? And what makes these tours so uniquely sustainable? Let us give you an overview and the answers.

Partner accommodations with a sustainable focus

A key factor in our Mindful Travel category: our dedicated partner accommodations. They meet especially high standards and play a vital role in ensuring that these tours are designed with even greater responsibility.

On the selected tours, you’ll stay exclusively in lodgings that reliably meet at least three out of four defined sustainability criteria.

Family-Run

When selecting our partner accommodations, we prioritize traditional, family-run establishments. What makes them truly special? A welcoming atmosphere, genuine hospitality, and a deep connection to the region. Often managed across generations, these places radiate a love for detail—evident in their ambiance, attentive service, and the authentic insider tips shared by the hosts.

Regional

Fresh, local, and thoughtfully sourced: At our sustainably selected accommodations, regional products take center stage—often even in organic quality, as at the Biohotel Stillebach in Tyrol.

Reducing Plastic and Waste

Our partner accommodations are dedicated to minimizing waste. From breakfasts featuring homemade products to avoiding single-use packaging and offering refillable toiletries in the bathrooms, every detail counts.

Sustainable Practices

Sustainability is at the heart of our partner establishments’ daily operations. They rely on homemade products and locally sourced ingredients, with much of their energy coming from renewable sources such as solar, geothermal, or district heating. Instead of chemical cleaning agents, environmentally friendly technologies are used, and single-use plastics are avoided—for example, with glass bottles and no trash bags in the rooms.

Sustainable Travel

For the Mindful Travel category, product standards ensure a sustainable approach across all aspects and services of your journey:

Eco-Friendly Travel: Start your journey sustainably with public transport access

Climate-Friendly Extras: From alpine lunches with regional specialties to tastings of local quality wines

Fewer Miles: Minimized passenger transfers and luggage transport routes

Off the Beaten Path: Routes away from tourist hotspots, through pristine landscapes with charming villages and small towns

Our Projects

Bicycle Bag Upcycling: Giving Old Bags a New Life

Our bicycle bags from the sister brand Eurobike travel countless kilometers across Europe. From Alpine crossings and island adventures to scenic routes along rivers and lakes, they serve countless cyclists as reliable and practical companions on their journeys. But even the toughest material eventually shows signs of wear. When our bags are no longer fit for new tours, they don’t end up in the trash at Eurofun. Instead, they embark on a second life—in collaboration with the organization Soziale Arbeit GmbH.

Through creative ideas, sustainable thinking, and skilled craftsmanship, these retired bags are transformed into entirely new products:

🌼 Flower bags for balconies or gardens

🦊 Animal-shaped doorstoppers – decorative and functional

🚲 Small handlebar bags for shorter rides

Eurobike pannier bags Waltherplatz in Bolzano

It’s wonderful to see how our retired bicycle bags gain a second life through our collaboration with the organization Soziale Arbeit—creative, meaningful, practical, and truly sustainable.

From Our Team

Sustainability Themed Day

To involve all members of our dedicated Eurofun team in our sustainable travel initiatives—and to provide a thorough update once again—we hosted a Sustainability Themed Day as part of our annual summer festival. True to Eurofun’s spirit, the day was full of energy, skill, and plenty of team camaraderie. At five interactive stations, our colleagues explored sustainability in a playful and hands-on way, both on our tours and in everyday office life:

♻️ Sorting Waste – the Right Way!

Proper waste sorting ensures recyclable materials are processed and harmful substances are safely disposed of. This reduces waste sent to landfills or incineration, lowering CO₂ emissions and supporting the circular economy. That’s why we at Eurofun always prioritize correct waste separation. But which recycling bin does, for example, Styrofoam, a tea bag, or an envelope with a window go into? This knowledge—paired with a bit of skill—was exactly what participants needed at our waste-sorting station.

🚲 Bicycle Inner-Tube Rally

Knowledge, teamwork, and agility: During the Bicycle Inner-Tube Rally, our colleagues not only had the chance to showcase their know-how about the Eurohike stations and sustainability in logistics, but also to sprint a few meters along the way.

🥕 Honoring & Using Food

Food is precious—and we often forget how much work, resources, and logistics go into a product on the supermarket shelf. In a hands-on workshop, we explored the entire value chain and created inventive recipes from leftover ingredients. True to the motto: making the best out of what remains!

❓ Quiz: Who Will Be the Sustainability Expert?

2025 has been all about sustainability at Eurofun. Over the past months, we implemented numerous measures—261 requirements, to be exact—and were certified as a sustainable tour operator by Travelife. In our sustainability quiz, everyone had the chance to refresh their knowledge and playfully test how well they know our initiatives.

💬 Ideas Dashboard for a Sustainable Future

Sustainability is firmly embedded in our company philosophy—and the journey continues! Our dedicated sustainability team is constantly working on new initiatives and measures. At the Ideas Dashboard, all Eurofun colleagues had the opportunity to contribute their own project ideas. Many of these suggestions are already in planning or implementation. As a reward for their active participation, participants received a new Eurofun shirt—produced in collaboration with the Geschützte Werkstätten – Integrative Betriebe Salzburg.

...and Then We Celebrated

After an eventful and informative afternoon, we popped the corks at our summer party. Under bright, sunny skies, we celebrated, laughed, and chatted—and of course, enjoyed delicious bowls lovingly prepared with organic, locally sourced ingredients.
