Itinerary at a glance

From Hotel Bergrose in Strobl, discover one of the most beautiful corners of the Salzkammergut. The enchanting Schwarzensee, the magnificent panorama at the Zwölferhorn and the fine pastries in Bad Ischl are just a few examples.

Embark on a stroll along the meadow path to Strobl zum See or ascend Mount Theresienstein, a little peak situated directly behind the hotel.

Initial hike from St. Wolfgang up to Lake Schwarzensee, a deep blue mountain lake situated amidst wooded hills. Take your lunch break at the „Lore am See“ and enjoy freshly smoked whole trout and traditional sweet dishes. The descent leads through the Wirerschlucht-gorge or along the alp path and takes you into the Beraubucht-bay, where you hike along a spectacular panorama-path directly above the waters of Lake Wolfgangsee to Strobl.

Effortlessly you glide up the mountain to the Zwölferhorn peak. Here you are at an altitude of 1000m higher than the green-blue surface of the lake. The view is fantastic all the way to the snow-covered Mount Dachstein. The circular high-altitude path and the circular alp route to the Spitzeck offer panoramic views at its best. After a break in a rustic mountain hut you joyfully descend by cable car back to the valley.

A visit to the imperial town of Bad Ischl featuring a stunning esplanade, the romantic Café Zauner and the many beautiful villas. Afterwards you proceed via the Golgotha uphill to Lake Nussensee, a hidden little mountain lake situated amidst the forest. Leisurely you walk along the river back to Lake Wolfgangsee.

An extensive circular alp tour around the peak of Mount Sparber awaits. Past the game park featuring deer and ibex you proceed deeply into the copious mountain areas. The circular path leads you via the Schartenalm-alp with its impressive location between jagged rockfaces finally to the ‚Mahdhäusl‘. Here you take a break at a mountain farmhouse with best views onto the lake and Mount Schafberg situated opposite. After that you continue through the marvellous nature reserve on the lake back to your hotel.

A hiking classic on Lake Wolfgangsee. Along the footsteps of pilgrims from the lovely pilgrimage church in St Wolfgang past the cog railway up to the hermitage of Saint Wolfgang. Far up you enjoy a view from the spectacular Falkensteinwand mountain face, towering 200m vertically above the lake. You descend into the idyllic bay Fürbergbucht and proceed through the charming ‚Brunnwinkel‘ along the lake to St. Gilgen.
