Black Forest

Between Schluchsee and Feldberg.

Dense forests, lakes, rivers, mountains and castles - welcome to the Black Forest! The low mountain range in Baden-Württemberg, southern Germany, has a lot to offer. But above all, it is a place of peace and relaxation, far away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In the nature reserve, you will get to know the region's special flora and fauna, while sampling the culinary treasures in the rustic inns and traditional huts. Read on and gain an insight into this hiking insider tip!

Details of the 8 day hiking tour

Soak up the sweeping views of the Black Forest in tranquil Saig before you even start hiking. Via the Bärental you will reach Hinterzarten. The Feldsee will captivate you with its mystical flair. Bathing is prohibited here, as rare underwater ferns grow in the water, which can be up to 32 metres deep. It is also the highest lake in Germany outside the Alps. Next is the climb up the Feldberg, the highest point in the region.

On the way to the high valley of Bernau, take a look at the characteristic single-roofed farmhouses that enrich the picturesque region. You will pass the Schluchsee before your hiking week ends at the picturesque Titisee. Are you still thinking or are you already packing?

Highlights of the Black Forest tour

  • The panorama from the highest point of the Black Forest: the Feldberg is worth a hike, wonderful panoramas await you at the summit. In good weather you can even see the Alps and the Vosges.
  • You should definitely discover the picturesque Titisee from the water. Hire a pedal boat or take a trip on the steam boat to survey the beautiful body of water from all perspectives. Swimming is also allowed in Lake Titisee, so take a plunge!
  • The hearty Baden cuisine: Which treat from the Black Forest does just about everyone know? Certainly the Black Forest gateau, which you should definitely try. But the local cuisine has so much more to offer! A snack with Black Forest ham and Bibbeleskäs cheese, for example. Accompanied by beer, wine and schnapps produced regionally - Prost!
  • Thundering waterfalls always produce - in the truest sense of the word - a unique atmosphere. In the Black Forest you will encounter several such places of power. The Seebach waterfall is framed by a picturesque mountain backdrop and at the Prägbach Falls you may encounter courageous kayakers.

Useful information about the tour with Eurohike

The 16 to 23 kilometre hikes are scenic and not too difficult. However, you should be fit for the hilly terrain. The route is broken up by a cable car ride up the Hasenhorn. On this tour you will stay in charming inns and great middle-class hotels, some with wellness facilities.

  • The south, the centre or the north - Germany as a hiking country is more diverse than almost any other nation! Learn a lot of interesting facts and browse through great tours.
