Kitzbühel: a place the whole world knows for a skiing event. Where in the winter months the downhill and slalom skiers plunge down - literally - and the celebrities toast with champagne, is also a great place for hiking in summer. Idyllic alpine pastures, imposing mountain peaks, rustic huts, dreamlike nature await you - and a 4-star boutique hotel as a base for your tours.
Details of the tour with charm in Kitzbühel
On the "tour based in one hotel" you can expect varied day tours, in the evening you always return to your "hotel home". The first stage of the Tyrol tour leads to the emerald-green Schwarzsee, a small moor lake with wonderful views of the Wilder Kaiser. If you like this stage, then you will really go into raptures on day 2: Take the cable car up to the Kitzbüheler Horn. The hike leads from the summit to the valley with countless panoramas of the surrounding mountains.
The three other hikes could not be more varied: Action-packed in the Griesbachklamm gorge, one day later you hike along the Tyrolean section of the Jakobsweg trail and the final tour takes you to the Sintersbach waterfall.
The highlights of hiking in Kitzbühel
Rocky peaks, green meadows and rustic alpine pastures: over 1,000 km of hiking trails await visitors to this unique region. The nature around the Grasberge, the Streif and the Kitzbüheler Horn is simply fantastic.
Culture & enjoyment in charming Kitzbühel: Jewellery boutiques, great gastronomy and rustic cosiness - let yourself be swept away by the flair of the Hahnenkamm town.
Tyrolean delicacies in the mountain huts: Whether Kässpatzen, Speckknödel or Tiroler Gröstl - after so much exercise and experiences in the fresh air, you can confidently dive into the wonderful specialities of Tyrolean cuisine.
Roaring waterfalls and gorges: Hiking can also be adventurous and that's what it is on this tour, where, among other things, suspension bridges and wildly romantic rivers are waiting to be explored. Balancing on narrow footbridges over rushing streams - that gets you going!
Cable car rides to countless panoramic peaks: The Kitzbühel Alpen Sommer Card is included in your trip, which means you can use 38 mountain railways free of charge. The views are worth it!
Useful information about the tour with Eurohike
The stages with a length of 11 to 15 kilometres can usually be completed in around five hours walking time. Good walking shoes are advantageous for the sometimes rocky climbs. Some stages can be shortened and the cable car rides save a lot of altitude.

The hiking weeks kicks off with an absolute classic. You hike through a marvelous hillscape with wonderful paths through lush meadows, idyllic moorland and extensive forests. From Lake Schwarzsee you proceed along traditional farmhouses to glistening ponds, enjoy the view onto the impressive Wilder Kaiser-rock massif as a backdrop.
By cable car up to the Kitzbüheler Horn, the highest summit amidst this fabulous mountain world. Take enough time to relish to the full the 360-degree panoramic view and the view onto the surrounding mountain chains and countless peaks. In the Alpine flower garden, you get to marvel at over 300 different alpine plants from all over the world. Then towards the valley across meadows and past idyllic alps, a panorama-tour at its finest!
A short bus journey to Erpfendorf, where you will hike into the wild-romantic Griesbach-ravine for an extensive tour. You proceed across impressive chain bridges and adventurous footbridges sometimes only just an inch above the water exploring the gorge. Along the Jägersteig-trail up to the quaint hut ‚Huberalm‘, here we highly recommend you take a break and enjoy a proper alpine meal. Via a forest trail you descend to the shores of the river Großache, a pretty riverbank path leads you into the picturesque little village of St. Johann.
Today you walk along the tracks of pilgrims along the Tyrolean Way of St. James. Through the Öfenschlucht-gorge you reach the historic pilgrimage church St. Adolari and then all the way to the shores of the turquoise Lake Pillersees. The rugged rock spires of the Steinberg-mountains and the blue shell-symbol of the pilgrims guide you to Flecken, where you take a chair lift high up to the mountain face ‚Buchensteinwand‘. At an altitude of 1450m you find the accessible cross ‚Jakobskreuz‘, combined with a mountain chapel and panorama viewing platform. You descend into the valley via the educational flower path.
At the end of your hiking week a genuine natural treasure awaits: from Jochberg you ascend in the shade through the Sintersbach-basin to the same-named waterfall, which debouches over a height of 85 metres over steep rocks. The unbridled power of nature can be felt again in an especially intense fashion before you embark inspired and recharged on the descent into the valley via the impressive Drachensteig-trail.
