What is it about Slovenia that makes hikers’ hearts beat faster? Quite simply: this small neighbour of Italy is a true green oasis that also offers an authentic Alpine experience. From refreshing lakes and icy swimming spots along the turquoise-green Soča River to lush green plateaus, Slovenia’s natural landscapes couldn’t be more diverse. So for me, it was clear from the start: this was a hiking destination I simply had to experience for myself.
This year, we chose the brand-new Julian Alps & Wild Soča Valley tour. I had always wanted to go hiking in Slovenia, so I jumped at the opportunity! We’re taking our daughter with us again this year, too. The only thing we’re wondering is how she’ll cope with the individual stages, as this isn’t specifically a family-friendly tour.
