Hike up to come down: relaxation while hiking in nature

Spending time in the fresh mountain air, the view over idyllic alpine landscapes or quiet mountain lakes and enjoying local specialities in rustic alpine huts – hiking has a special magic effect on us humans. After just a short time in the open air, you will feel a soothing sense of relaxation and contentment. Here you can really switch off your head and think about other things. It does not always have to be a long journey to get there. Our local mountains also offer ideal conditions for enjoying a quality break while hiking in the countryside.

And that is exactly what our Eurohike travel specialists know, who use the active break as a source of energy. We will now tell you which peaks our colleagues who are eager for exercise prefer to hike and why it is particularly good to relax there.

Isabella hikes in Trentino

On my favourite hiking tour from Merano to Lake Garda, the Brenta Dolomites impress me the most. You can already feel the power of these mountains on the shore of the crystal-clear, turquoise-blue Lake Molveno. The Brenta Dolomites are a well-known alpine symbol due to their unmistakable profile, characterised by rugged rock towers and peaks. The mountain range is located in the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park and is divided into three mountain ranges, the highest peak being the Cima Tosa at 3.173 metres above sea level. On my hike I slowly approached these mountains and arrived at the top of the cable car station or the panorama terrace, I rested for a moment with a good cappuccino and was able to really enjoy the wonderful view of the valley. I am always amazed by the successful mixture of Mediterranean and Alpine flair that this region has to offer.

Verena on Monte Verena

On my last vacation in Italy in the summer of 2021, I discovered ‚my‘ mountain – the ‚Monte Verena‘ situated in the Veneto. There is a nice small family ski area here in winter. In summer you hike through flower meadows past flocks of sheep to the summit. Once at the top at an altitude of 2.015 metres above sea level, a typical Italian refuge awaits you with characteristic Italian delicacies, which you can enjoy on the beautiful sun terrace. ‚Monte Verena‘ is one of my new favourite peaks in Italy!

Julia climbs Mount Hoher Göll

My favouite summit is 2.522 metres high and is located on the Eastern edge of the Berchtesgadener Alps. It is Mount Hoher Göll with its unique summit cross. The cross has a huge rock crystal in the middle. In order to reach this special peak, you have to master a long and strenuous climb in alpine terrain. There are many climbing areas to be mastered, surefootedness and a head for heights are a must. Once at the top, you will be rewarded for the long climb and the effort. You will have forgotten all your worries and can enjoy the breathtaking view of the beautiful Berchtesgaden mountains and even see Mount Hochkönig and the Dachstein Glacier in the distance. It is always a special moment to be up here.

Elena recharges her batteries at Mount Grimming

Everyone’s favourite peak may differ in height, scenery, climate and region of the world, and yet they all have one thing in common: a favourite peak is more than just one of many peaks. My favourite peak is at an altitude of 2.351 metres and is part of the Dachstein mountains – the Mount Grimming. This mountain monument influences and dominates landscapes, people and culture. The down-to-earth an hearty nature of the Ennstal-people inspires me anew every time. Mount Grimming can be conquered on serveral demanding routes and via ferrata and is also considered a very weather-sensitive mountain. If, like me, you want to reward yourself with culinary delights in addition to a breathtaking view from the summit, you should recharge your batteries at the Grimming-hut (966m) and the sweet dish ‚Kaiserschmarren‘ tastes particularly delicious after this strenuous hike. The fascination with my personal favourite summit lies above all in its uniqueness and completeness. My tip: every hiker should personally try out and experience the impression and attraction of Mount Grimming.

Perhaps you will think about it on your next hike, take a deep breath of the wonderful mountain air and feel the balancing effect when hiking up your personal favourite peak. Experience the positive power of nature and enjoy every step of the hike just for yourself!
