Jura Crest Trail

Round the bend.

The Jura Crest Trail is considered the classic among national long-distance trails. Signalization of the route, starting at Zurich and ending just before Genève, began as early as 1905. It links two major Swiss towns and as the name suggests, leads over the Swiss Jura heights. This makes a sweeping arc towards the northwest, so those hiking this trail go a little round the bend – and over the language boundary!

For the steep ascents a good physical condition is needed. The trails are easy to walk, but they may be slippery on wet days.

Beautiful Scenery, Challenging Climb & Weather
We walked the Jura Trail in mid-May 2019. The weather for the early part of our hike was challenging - wet, cold and windy. The last three days were pleasant but surprisingly cool. The weather limited our views from the Jura to the Swiss Alps and affected some of our hiking times which were longer than the expected times in the travel information. Sights we enjoyed included: beautiful alpine flowers in the meadows, deer in the mountains and spectacular rock formations. Favourite meal was Swiss fondue followed by Absinthe Liqueur at an alpine restaurant in Nods. Yummy!

Dear Ms Francis, thank you for your detailed feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed your hike. It is a pity that you were unlucky with the weather but hopefully it will be better at your next hiking trip!

Super Erlebnis!
