Perl – Palzem
The start of your week’s walk gives you a view across the border triangle to Luxembourg and France. Your route takes you from the delightful wine-growing region via quaint forests and extensive fields in the Palatinate wine village, Palzem, where you can see Schloss Thorn from afar. This is the oldest castle winery on the Mosel. A very special highlight on this stage are the sinkholes made out of limestone.

Palzem – Nittel
After visiting the double towered Helfant cathedral, you walk along the paths offering great views and short but steep ascents along the flourishing meadows and forests. Enjoy the view of the river Mosel before you reach the next wine district by a crossroads.

You walk along diverse paths through the species-rich nature protection area “Nitteler Felsen” whilst getting impressive panoramic views of the river Mosel and the unique limestone cliffs by the Mosel and Saar. Today’s destination is the town Konz, which is where the river Saar flows into the river Mosel and, which was already settled in Roman times.

Today you head towards the Mosel Metropolis, Trier, and you will be tracing the Romans. After crossing the river Mosel, it is worth taking a detour to the Igel Column, which is a richly ornamented roman monument. You then walk through the Busen valley along nature natural paths (despite being close to the town) in the culturally rich town of Trier. Its many attractions are waiting for you.

Circular walk Trier
Make sure that you visit the UNESCO-World heritage site Porta Nigra, the amphitheater and the cathedral in Germany’s oldest town. You walk along the Traumsteig up to the Petrisberg where you will get a breathtaking view of Trier and the Mosel valley. In the afternoon, you will go on a panoramic ship ride on the river Mosel.

Today you will switch from the Moselsteig to the Eifelsteig. It is the final stage on this walking holiday and it would be pretty tricky to offer more highlights than on this tour. Impressive natural monuments like the well-known Genoveva and Klausen caves or the view of the Kyll river meanders and the imposing Burg Ramstein are all waiting for you on today’s walk through the romantic Butzerbach valley.
