Styrian Lake Aussee

Hiking in the green heart of Austria.

Surrounded by the impressive summits of Salzkammergut Alps and only accessible by alpine passes the region Ausseerland was able to preserve the local way of life. This place of unusual beauty is a hidden gem in the geographical centre of Austria. The large alpine pasture “Tauplitz” is the highest lake plateau of Middle Europe. Surrounded by the mountains of the “Dead Mountains” as the native name Totengebirge is translated this lovely pasture is nonetheless a very lively spot.

Seen sehen!
Eine wirklich schöne Reise! Herrliche Aussichten. Jeden Tag unterschiedliche Seen im Blick. Anforderungen waren für uns angemessen. Anstrengung und Erholung wechseln perfekt. Sehr gute Verpflegung in HP.

Beeindruckende Wanderung in großartiger Landschaft.

Nice Trip
Overall experience about tour was good. Balance with resting days and walking days was good. There was enough margin in routes and timetable. Most hotels were comfortable and nice and well located. Eurohike Routebook was nice and quite easy to read. For traveler it is an advantage to speak German, when some of the stuff did not speak English.
