Salzalpensteig – Hiking Trail 2

From the Berchtesgadener Land into the World Heritage-Region Salzkammergut.

This tour takes you on old salt-paths, steeped in legends, from one highlight to the next: starting from the incredibly beautiful lake Königssee, set amidst the national park Berchtesgaden, through the shadow of the mighty mountain range ‚Tennengebirge’ all the way to the World Heritage-region Dachstein. Enjoy a comfortable boat ride to the world-famous little church St. Bartholomä, bevor you head for the well-known salt-towns of Berchtesgaden and Hallein. We highly recommend a visit to one of the salt mines along this extensive border-crossing walking path, choose between Dürrnberg, a site which has already been used by the Celts for harvesting salt or in Hallstatt with its prehistoric salt mining. Inbetween these two locations you will hike on meandering high-altitude trails and experience an amazing mountain splendor with incredible views. There will also be plenty of authentic Bavarian-Austrian atmosphere – countless pretty little alps along lush floral alpine pastures invite you to a well-earned rest.

Salt-Alpensteig Path 2 - A Great Hike!
I was very pleased with Eurohike and the Salt-Alplensteig Path II hike. The Eurohike representative was very communicative from the moment I inquired about the hike and all of my questions were answered. He made sure that I knew exactly what to expect. Eurohike sent my detailed itinerary and hotel list a couple of weeks before my trip and that allowed me to check out my hotels online and to save them on Google Maps. I thought the hotels were solid; not 5-star by any means but Eurohike did not claim that they were. For the price I paid for the tour, they were all at least as good as I expected

Salzalpensteig 2
