2nd Day: Meiringen – Grindelwald
Take the post bus to Rosenlaui, where the first route commences via Große Scheidegg to Grindelwald, always with the magnificent panorama of the Threesome Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Walking time: approx. 4.5 hrs.
3rd Day: Grindelwald – Lauterbrunnen
Start the day with an ascent to Kleines Scheidegg. You are free to make an excursion to Jungfraujoch. Follow the steep path past spectacular Trümmelbach falls, down to Lauterbrunnen (easier option: downhill to Lauterbrunnen via Wengen or train Kleine Scheidegg – Lauterbrunnen). Walking time: approx. 6.5 hrs.
4th Day: Lauterbrunnen – Griesalp/Kiental
Take to cable car to Mürren. The route crosses Sefinenfurgge, which often is snow covered until early summer. Enjoy marvellous alpine scenery. Walking time: approx. 7 hrs.
5th Day: Griesalp/Kiental – Kandersteg
Today you join the Queen’s stage – a climb up to Blüemlisalp. After a long and steep ascent up to 2.843 m the alpine cabin on Blüemlisalp offers sustaining meals. Via Hohtürli and the moraines of Blüemlialp glacier you walk down to Öschinen Lake. Continue to Kandersteg (alternative from Öschinen Lake: take the cable car downhill). Walking time: approx. 7.5 hrs.
6th Day: Kandersteg – Adelboden
Take the mountain railway up to Allmenalp, then ascent to Benderchrinde. A stunning panorama view of the surrounding summits is a well earned reward. Continue downhill to Adelboden. Walking time: approx. 5.5 hrs.
7th Day: Adelboden – Lenk
Today you have the choice how to end the Bear Trek
Option 1: Easy walking tour via Hahnenmoos to Lenk.
Option 2: By post bus and cable car up to Engstligenalp. Walk across Ammetengrat, past Simmenfalls to Lenk. Walking time: approx. 4.5 hrs.
8th Day: Individual journey home or extra days

Eiger - Mönch - Jungfrau
Explore alpine Switzerland at it’s most impressive: The Bear Trek is a unique route over spectacular passes and along grand glaciers. Via Alpina leads through valleys and gorges, past the three “proud Swiss” Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau right to the Swiss holiday resort Adelboden-Lenk. Do not count on meeting any bears nowadays. The name derives from old times when only bears and wolfs were able to trot this routes. And today it is your turn: the Bear Trek is more than a walking our. You cross several passes. Extras
How to get there/Parking- By train to Meiringen. A few walking minutes or short taxi transfer to the starting hotel.
- Parking in Meiringen: chargeable car park near the hotel, approx. € 19 per week or f.o.c. on the car park of the mountain railway. No reservation required.
- Return from Lenk to Meiringen by train, duration approx. 3 hrs.
- On the 4th resp. 3rd day there is the possibility to sleep in a traditional mountain inn on Griesalp. The accommodation is simple but very cosy, single rooms are available. If you rather prefer the comfort of a hotel you can take the post bus from Griesalp to Kiental and stay overnight in a hotel.
