The gem of Salzkammergut.

Surrounded by the impressive summits of Salzkammergut Alps and only accessible by alpine passes the region Ausseerland was able to preserve the local way of life. This place of unusual beauty is a hidden gem in the geographical centre of Austria. The large alpine pasture “Tauplitz” is the highest lake plateau of Middle Europe. Surrounded by the mountains of the “Dead Mountains” as the native name Totengebirge is translated this lovely pasture is nonetheless a very lively spot.
