It is worth it to stop, to look into the surrounding and to absorb the beauty of the landscape. Region Ausseerland, surrounded by mountains and only to reach across passes, is a special piece of jewellery in Salzkammergut.

Tour course
1st Day: Individual arrival to Bad Goisern
2nd Day: Loop tour Hallstatt Salt Mountain
Your walking tour leads along brine pipeline to the salt mountain in Hallstatt (salt mine from the Celtic Age). Enjoy the wonderful views onto the Lake and the Dachstein massif. You should definitely visit the salt mine, enjoy the view from Rudolfsturm (tower) and visit the archaeological sites. By boat you cross the Lake and by train you return to Bad Goisern. Walking time: approx. 4,5 hours.
3rd Day: Loop tour brine pipeline path & Bad Ischl
Salt is and was the most important resource in this region. The oldest brine pipeline in the world leads from the Hallstatt Salt Mountain to the salt-mine in Bad Ischl. You walk along this brine pipeline path to Bad Ischl. Via Kaltenbachau, where horse races, picnics and rendezvous took place in imperial times, you reach along the promenade the centre of Bad Ischl. You should plan a stop in famous Café Zauner to enjoy a coffee and cake before you return by train to Bad Goisern. Walking time: approx. 3, 5 hours.
4th Day: Loop tour Lake Wolfgangsee
Journey to Strobl at Lake Wolfgangsee and walking tour to picturesque St. Wolfgang. You should not miss out on visiting the hotel Weisses Rössl and the church. On your walking tour along the ridgeway to Falkensteinwand you will have wonderful views onto the Lake. Along the romantic lakeside path you continue to Mozart village St. Gilgen. By boat back to Strobl. Journey back to Bad Goisern. Walking time: approx. 3, 5 hours.
5th Day: Loop tour Ausseerland
From Bad Goisern by taxi to the Panorama Nova. You walk past huts, mountain pastures and peaks to Ausseerland. The Hütteneck alp offers fantastic view onto the UNESCO world cultural heritage “Hallstatt Dachstein”. After a long rest at romantic Altausseer Lake you go by public transport back to your hotel. Walking time: approx. 5 hours.
6th Day: Loop tour Valley Koppental
By train to Bad Aussee. Before you start your walking tour you should stroll through Bad Aussee to discover the numerous treasures here: for example the unique houses and the park, where salt pans steamed in former times. Afterwards you walk through romantic valley Koppental. Return journey by train from Hallstatt. Walking time: approx. 5 hours.
7th Day: Individual departure or additional nights
Route features
You are walking mainly on hiking trails and alp paths. The trails are good, nevertheless there are sometimes some small serpentine paths. You should be in good shape for the daily tours of max. 5 hours. This walking week is perfect for epicures, because the daily stages can by shortened by train or bus.
