Our walking guide prepared a weekly programme, which leaves nothing to wish for. You walk the different regions and climate zones of Madeira – so close together and yet so different. Surefootedness and a good head for height are quite necessary on Madeira as the paths are following the mountain slopes.

Day 2 to Day 7: Hikingprogram
Monday - Day tour Queimadas/Caldeirao Verde (approx. 5 hours, approx. 12 km)
Along an old Levada (water pipeline) surrounded by various flowers you walk past small craters, water falls and see many valleys, mountains and of course the sea. Afterwards you visit nature park Queimadas.
Tuesday/Thursday - Half day tour Gaula/Santo da Serra (approx. 3 hrs, approx. 10 km)
Comfortable Levada walk between mountains and hills of the region Santo da Serra. Beautiful contrasts between natural flora and the cultivated terraced fields.
Tuesday/Thursday - Half day tour Levada da Serra do Faial (approx. 3 hrs, approx. 7 km)
Relaxed Levada walking around Funchal. Changing views of the mountains and the sea.
Wednesday/Sunday - Day tour Rabacal/25 Fontes (approx. 3 hrs, approx. 9 km)
Lavada walk with view to gorgeous valleys and magnificent waterfalls. Rabacal is a unique nature paradise.
Friday - Day tour Riberio Frio/Portela (approx. 4 hrs, ca 10 km)
Levada walk into the inland. You walk past deep gorges and valleys with view to the striking rock „Penha d’Aguia“.
Friday - Half day tour Levada do Norte (approx. 2.5hrs, ca 8 km)
One of the sunniest walking tours of the island. Terraced fields, overgrown country houses and stunning scenery.
Saturday - Day tour Prazeres /Ponta do Pargo (approx. 4.5 hrs, approx. 12 km)
Starting in the far west in the stunning mountains of Madeira with beautiful views to the sea and small fisher villages on the coast.
Day 8: Individual departure or extra days
Simple, beautiful 3 star country house, situated in a residential area of villas on a little hill with view to the Bay of Funchal. The country house has an own pool and terrace, approx. 2 km into the city centre, bus stop nearby.
Quinta Penha de Franca
4 star hotel with spacious garden, direct access to the sea and pool. Beautiful hotel, rooms with view to the garden, sea-view against surcharge.
Arrival/Departure
Airport Funchal. With organized transfer (included in tour price) to the selected accommodation and back to the airport at the end.

Explore the flora and fauna from Madeira!
Thanks to the trade wind climate the volcano island in midst of the Atlantic has a lush subtropical flora with lavish flowers. The elaborate irrigation system of more than 2.200 km canals for irrigation of sugarcane-, wine- and banana plantations represents today a perfect Levada walking path along the slopes. Route features
Comfortable walking on well kept paths. Daily walking times of up to 5 hours and only little difference in altitude. Some parts on narrow paths possible. You can join any day as the guided tours are offered every day. The tours are spread across the island and you will get beautiful impressions.
