Little harbours, typically English, dot the coast and convey the character of the country and the folk. Explore also the peninsula with meadows and forests. Watch birds and see rare flowers. Not to forget many scenic views on the sea!

1st Day: Individual journey to Helston

2nd Day: Roundtrip „Inland Lake“
From Helston, the capital of „Lizard Peninsula“ you start on a comfortable round trip to the largest inland lake of Cornwall named Loe Pool. Walk into the forests of Penrose and to the little fisher port Porthleven and back to Helston. Walking time: approx. 3 to 4.5 hrs.

3rd Day: Helston – St. Keverne
Short taxi transfer from Lizard Peninsula to Manacan, where you can observe the tranquil water and forested bank of Frenchman creek. Follw the coastal path with magnificent cliffs and sandy beaches to little port Porthallow to the village St. Keverne. Walking time: approx. 3 to 4.5 hrs.

4th Day: Roundtrip „Coastal Path“
At first you walk south past green fields to the coast of Coverack with pretty houses surrounding the port. Then you return on the coastal path, from rocky cliffs to flat shingle beaches. You pass the „Manacles“, an infamous rock near the coast which caused 150 shipwrecks. Walking time: approx. 4 to 4.5 hrs.

5th Day: St. Keverne - Mullion
Today you explore the nature reserve Goonhilly Downs, an ancient country with standing stones and burial mounds, contrasting the modern wind turbines. This area is declared national reserve protecting many rare species of plants of animals. You reach the west coast of Lizard Peninsula with Mullion, the biggest village of the peninsula with inns, restaurants and a museum of art. Walking time: approx. 3 to 4.5 hrs.

6th Day: Roundtrip „Southernmost tip“
Catch the coach down to Lizard, the southernmost tip of Great Britain. This place has been a popular holiday destination since the Victorian age. From the famous lighthouse you follow the most dramatic and beautiful stage of the coastal path back to Mullion. Walking time: approx. 4 to 5 hrs.

7th Day:
Individual journey home from Mullion or stay for some extra day

Route features

Pretty panorama walk on the coast and into the interior. Good paths but take care at the steep coasts. According to route you walk between 8 and 15 km per day.

How to get there
  • By air to London, underground to London-Paddington and by train to Redruth (www.nationalrail.co.uk). From Redruth by taxi or coach to Helston (www.firstgroup.com), Duration approx. 5 hrs organized Transfer for € 35 per fare.
  • By air to Newquay and by taxi to Helston, cost approx. € 100 per fare, payable in advance, reservation required.
  • Return from Mullion to Helston by coach, duration approx. 30 minutes or transfer from Mullion to Redruth for € 60.
  • To Newquay Airport organised transfer, cost per fare € 115 payable locally, reservation required.
  • Note: Reservation needed, payable on spot for all transfers
