Hikers on the coast of Brittany

Home to countless seabirds and wildflowers that transform fields into a colourful sea – that is the north of Brittany. Also known as the Côtes d’Armor, the coastline stretches for around 350 kilometres. The cliffs are rugged and spectacular to look at – a true hiking mecca and home to this nine-day Eurohike trip. Above all, the relationship between land and sea is evident in Brittany. In the rhythm of the tides, the rushing sea flows inland every day and rushes out again. Be a witness to the different coastal formations when hiking in France from east to west.

Would you like to experience the beauty of Northern Brittany and its rugged cliffs with your own eyes? Then our impressive coastal hiking holiday on the Côtes-d’Armor is just perfect. Experience a total of 93 kilometres of the unique natural landscape in nine days and seven daily stages. You hike almost exclusively on old customs officers’ paths from the Goëlo Coast to the pink granite coast and get to see all sorts of wonderful things. Unusual plants such as colourful hydrangeas, mimosas or fragrant eucalyptus trees await you while hiking on the flower island of Bréhat, which you can reach via a short boat ride. The circular hike on the seven islands on the sixth day of the holiday is also astonishing: not only is this the oldest bird sanctuary in of France, but also penguins and gannets live here.

  • Unforgettable coastal hikes: Every day anew you experience fantastic coastal hikes between the Goëlo coast and the pink granite coast. The circular walk on the island of Bréhat and the excursion to the "Sept Îles" provide even more variety.
  • Hiking for connoisseurs: When hiking in France, one thing is guaranteed – enjoyment will not be neglected. Not only scenic, but also culinary you can look forward to the excellent cuisine and the wonderful Breton wines such as Cabernet, Pinot or Merlot.
  • Natural paradise in Brittany: The coastal scenery between the Goëlo Coast and the pink granite coast is home to numerous species of birds and wild flowers such as orchids, poppies and heather. The island of Bréhat is home to a particularly exotic floral splendor with mimosa, hydrangea and laurel and eucalyptus trees. Wonderful Brittany!
  • Picture-perfect port Perros-Guirec: The small French community on the North coast is particularly charming and offers its visitors a picture-perfect port.

This hiking holiday is assigned our level of hiking ‘Walking’ and is a fabulous experience with a good basic fitness level. The leisurely daily tours are between seven and 19 kilometres long and lead along country lanes, side roads and dunes along the cliffs. The individual stages are partially marked as ‘Grande Route’. Should you have a low energy day, then each day’s route can be individually adjusted to your needs.

Arrival in Paimpol

You have the choice between visiting the Beaufort Abbey (13th century) and a round trip on flower island Bréhat, which can be reached by a short boat ride. There exotic plants from all over the world grow as they once had been brought by the sailors: hydrangeas in splendid colours, laurel, mimosas and eucalyptus trees and many more.

By taxi to the tip of the peninsula to Sillon de Talbert. Here you walk along the lovely coast to  Tréguier on river Jaudy, where you will stay overnight.

Tour around the Plougrescant peninsula, a treat for all nature lovers. Wild flowers as erica, gorse, orchids, poppy and sea-cabbage can be admired along the route. In Port-Blanc you can take a bath in the sea, walk along the sandy beach or enjoy a sun-set from the hotel terrace.

Walk along a coastal path through many pretty settlements with lovely gardens to Perros-Guirec. The gardens in Brittany flourish all year long with flowers as e.g. mimosa, camellias, geranium and many more. Overnight in Perros-Guirec, a well known holiday village in Northern Bretagne with picture-book harbour.

Opposite of Perros-Guirec the oldest bird sanctuary of France, the „Seven Islands“ lay. Here penguins, gannets and other birds found undisturbed breeding grounds. You should visit the island quite early in the morning to enjoy your walk along the impressive coast of “pink granite” with bizarre rock formations.

A comfortable walk along the beach. Admire rocky boulders with names as “hare”, “devil’ castle” or “tortoise” and enjoy scenic views on the cliff islands with castle Costaérès.

We can recommend the excursion to „Ile Grande“, an island that can be reached via a bridge. Here birds are protected especially. On your way to the end of the island you reach a promontory with beautiful views on the Pink Granite coast. Or you enjoy a rest day in picturesque Ploumanach.
